From April 25 th to April 27 th 2017, H.E. Edmund Bartlett, the Minister of Tourism of Jamaica, attended the World Tourism and Travel Council’s (WTTC) Global Summit in Bangkok, Thailand hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The WTTC theme for 2017 summit focus on mutual knowledge sharing that involves seminars as well as meetings between ministerial, public, and private sectors regarding to the state of
global tourism and hospitalities.

After the conference, the Honorary Consulate of Jamaica in Thailand, led by Honorary Consul Dr. Jingjai Hanchanlash, had the honor of hosting the minister and his staff for the day that included activities such as a visit to the Thai royal art exhibition, the “Masterpieces by Queen Sirikit Institute, Chitralada Villa”, at Anantasamagom Throne Hall. This visit was to help foster and facilitate further discussions between Minister Bartlett and his Thai counterpart on cultural and tourism exchanges. Before the conclusion of the Minister’s visit to Thailand, an exchanges of views on further development of relationship, especially in the field of handicrafts skill development, was facilitated by the Honorary Consulate of Jamaica in Thailand in the form of a dinner meeting, which was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of Thailand, the British Embassy in Thailand, The Canadian Embassy in Thailand, and The Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Through this visit, the Honorary Consulate of Jamaica in Thailand hopes that a lasting ties and further concrete resolutions will further acilitate the strengthening of future exchanges and relationships of both nations.
