JAMPRO connects tech companies with investors at Tech Beach Retreat

Technology and innovation forum ‘Tech Beach Retreat’ and Jamaica’s investment and export promotion agency, JAMPRO, will be hosting a session to connect tech companies to investors and the private sector as part of the conference’s 3 days of activities.

Tech Beach will take place in Montego Bay from December 5-7, 2019, and will bring over 30 global speakers to Jamaica’s shores to hold discussions with local businesses, and promote innovation in the Jamaican economy.

The event will feature companies like Goldman Sachs, Pwc, Grace Kennedy, Instagram, Linkedin Africa, IDB, and Forbes, providing an unprecedented opportunity for networking, relationship building and knowledge sharing. Tech giant Google has signed on to the event as headline sponsor.

The business connection session will give Jamaican tech entrepreneurs the opportunity to discuss their projects and businesses with investors and the private sector community to receive guidance on how to move their projects forward.

Driving Business into the Caribbean’s Tech sector

Speaking on the conference, Kirk-Anthony Hamilton, Founder & CEO, The Infiniti Partnership, said that the Tech Beach Retreat is an opportunity for the Caribbean tech industry to receive exposure on an international platform.  He said, “We are collaborating with JAMPRO, DBJ, IDB Lab and others to spark an entrepreneurship and innovation revolution in the Caribbean, connecting the best in the Caribbean with the best in the world, driving a paradigm shift in the economic outlook of the region. We’ve built a highly interactive platform that consistently yields knowledge share, mentorship and investment. Tech Beach has emerged as the most recognized global ecosystem builder in the region.”

JAMPRO’s President, Diane Edwards, agreed with Mr. Hamilton, and said that JAMPRO signed on to sponsor Tech Beach for three years in 2018 based on the event’s potential to drive business into the local technology sector. Ms. Edwards said, “Events like the Tech Beach Retreat show that Jamaica is moving towards developing Global Digital Services and technology related industries on the whole. What JAMPRO wants is to propel these industries to increase their economic impact and generate jobs and wealth creation opportunities for Jamaicans.  With interest growing in technology, and initiatives to improve the ecosystem like the Global Services Sector (GSS) project and this event, JAMPRO hopes to see expansion in tech-based business in Jamaica.”
